Old-school family fun: Board games

Joseph Cianciotto makes it a point to spend as much quality time with his family. He’s come up with a list of some of most fun things to do given a certain time of the day and day of the week. On Saturday nights, one of his favorite activities is playing board games.

For Joseph Cianciotto, board games are great for several reasons. First off, the entire family gets to participate in the fun. Second, it takes away the kids (and parents) from their electronic (which even with games, is primarily for one person only).

Since board games are a huge part of Joseph Cianciotto’s recipe for a great Saturday night with the family, he shares today his favorite board games.

Monopoly: The king of board games, no other title comes close to Monopoly. Arguably the most popular board game in history, Monopoly has evolved, with different versions of the game being released. Today, people can find “Star Wars,” “The Simpsons,” “Harry Potter,” and other famous pop culture franchises being played via the Monopoly format.

Scrabble: The immortal word game, Scrabble has provided families countless hours of enjoyment and education. Yes, not only is the game fun, through it, children learn new words and develop many facets of their language.

Clue: One of the more interactive games out there, Clue requires family members to role-play and analyze each other’s strategies. It’s exciting, suspenseful, and ever-so-fun. And because the level of fun increases with the number of players, Joseph Cianciotto believes this game to be best enjoyed with family members and friends.
